Objects & Sounds - Collabs - Paule Josephe

Paule Josephe challenges how we think about clothing: where it comes from, how it’s made, and what it carries over time.

There’s something thoughtful and intentional in the way they work—letting materials take on new forms and meanings, allowing garments to shift and settle with those who wear them.

This idea of how garments change through different hands and contexts feels close to how we think about sound and the way it moves between listeners and environments. It became the starting point for an ongoing exploration into the parallels between garment and sound and the connections that shape them.

Paule Josephe encapsulates a foggy dream of contradictions: soft and edgy, old and new, delicate and defiant. Based in Brussels, they work exclusively with 100% deadstock fabrics, buttons, and yarns, creating garments that move between past and present.

Their garments embrace imperfections, treating stains and mended tears as imprints of time—marks of a life well lived. Clothing, in their world, is a guardian of memory, collecting stories with every wear.

Drawings and embroideries emerge from intuition, inspired by myths, cinematography, and the everyday circus of life. Meant to be worn day in and day out, these pieces carry the weight and resilience of the everyday, always connected to the body that wears them.

Expanding on the idea of reworking what already exists, we invited Paule Josephe to reimagine the artwork for our cassette reissue of Haron’s Wandelaar.

They found inspiration in wax moths—creatures with hypersensitive hearing that detect the subtlest shifts in their surroundings—as a nod to the album’s nuanced details.

The artwork extended into a five-piece shirt collection, each thoughtfully reworked from secondhand garments with embroidered motifs of moth wings and waiting landscapes.
